Sifu William Cheung
Grand Master — Traditional Wing Chun
A direct disciple of Yip Man, keeper of the transmission of Wing Chun.
A Chinese boxing art designed for everyone: no strength, no showmanship — a mechanics of the body and a reading of the opponent. Passed on in Bordeaux by Sifu Josse Delaune, a former disciple of Sifu Didier Beddar.
Wing Chun (詠春) — « boxing of the radiant spring » — is a compact, precise and deeply relaxed Chinese martial art. It favours angle, timing and economy over strength.
You do not come here to become stronger.
You come here to become more precise.
Wing Chun has neither quick grades nor spectacular demonstrations. It is learned slowly, in pairs, in a quiet room. Progress is measured by the quality of contact, the stability of the hips, and how quickly one accepts pressure without tensing up.
The traditional school rests on three empty-hand forms — Shil Lim Tao, Chum Kil, Bil Jee —, work on the wooden dummy (Muk Yan Jong) and the weapons (long pole and butterfly swords). Every class blends technique, free application (Chi Sao) and conditioning.
In Bordeaux, the academy stays faithful to the teaching of Sifu Didier Beddar. Attention to detail, precision of movement, rigour without dogma.
The WCTB school stands in the direct transmission of William Cheung, a direct disciple of Yip Man, and of Sifu Didier Beddar.
